It was built by request of the owner, Morgado José Jácome Correia, and was authored by Peter Wallace, an Englishman living in Ponta Delgada from 1850 to 1857. Today it’s a living testimony of the history of the art of gardens, with an emblematic botanical collection. Both the garden and the palace were considered a Regional Monument in 1984.
