On the way to Cumeeiras, a stone-shaped portico dating from 1778 can be seen through the vegetation; it seems to guard the fountain and the basins that can be found there. The legendary Sapateiro Fountain’s crystal clear water (flanked by the sinks where, in times past, women washed their clothes) allows passers-by to feel refreshed.
