These community washing basins are among the references to the history of the parish; it was here that women used to wash the family's clothes. The basins are also a reference to the abundance of water in the parish, and the washerwomen of St. Anthony a portrait of the socio-cultural past. With modernity, these community basins are no longer needed, but to honor those women of Santo António, the basins of Lomba da Cruz and Fonte Grande were recovered. Besides being an attraction, they can also teach youngsters about local history.
