Linen embroideries, mats, bedspreads and patchwork quilts are examples of typical local handicraft products.

The typical embroidery of São Miguel is known for two shades of blue thread on linen, in long and short stitch. Other examples include the Holy Spirit banners and the capes and pillows of the Christ of Miracles.

The quality and beauty of these handcrafted items made them popular in the national and international markets, being nowadays one of the Azores trademarks.
